Question : Brief Answer:
Longitudinal melanonychia, nothing to worry about

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query and reviewed the attached photograph.
It seems to be longitudinal melanonychia.
I don’t think there is anything to worry since it hasn’t changed much over a period of time.
It could be due to racial factors, familial, hereditary, due to certain medicines, skin diseases like eczema, benign tumours and very rarely due to melanoma.
It seems to be benign but you can have a consultation with your doctor and get it examined.

i have had this streak for atleast 3 years probably longer than that. it hasnt changed. i am 31 years old and am pregnant. and i heard pregnancy can change nails but figured its not the case in this situation. ive read it could be subungual melanoma. there is no family history of melanoma but history of the of type of skin cnacer just not sure which one. i do a apt with one of the family doctors in town tomorrow. i just want an opinion on this kinda of streak.
