I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.

In high grade fever such as 102 degree,you should take Paracetamol which is an over the counter (OTC) antipyretic drug.
Usual dose is 500 mg 3 to 4 times a day.
It shouldn't be taken before 4 hours of last dose and maximum dose is 4 grams per day.

Sponging with tap water (and not cold water) would help to reduce your body temperature.

Fever is a symptom.
It is an indicator of some internal disease and most frequent cause is infection.
If your fever persists,see your clinician for clinical examination,evaluation and management.
