Question: my 59yo dad has had low grade fever for the past 17 days , 8days ago he also started having lower abdominal pain as well as bloating. He has got some ultrasounds done (showed nothing abnormal) and a blood test that showed quite high CPR( 60MG/L ). We've seen two doctors the first one did the ultasounds and everything and prescribed flagyl cefixime and imodium , his state didnt really change. the second one who did the blood test prescribed bedelix spasfon but his state didnt really change as well ... what could it be ???

Few more investigations are reauired

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for choosing "Ask a Doctor" service for your query my dear patient.
Have seen your details and I appreciate your concerns.
The first and the foremost diagnosis on such presentation is a viral/Bacterial/Protozoal infection and the doctors had already treated him for the same with no results.
The next thing to consider with such high levels of CRP is polyp of inflammatory bowel disease like( Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis or a polyp or some cancerous growth in intestines/Anorectal).

-The Further treatment depends on the state of Covid 19 at your place. If things are good considering his age and high levels of CRP which is an indicator of severe inflamation,A colonoscopy should be done. This test involves use of a plastic tube mounted with high definition cameras. When this tube is inserted back into recto anal canal it reaches the level of intestines and Doctor could actually see the working of intestine and whether inflammatory bowel disease is there or not or any other pathology like A polyp or Carcinoma is there.
So hope you can understand detailed investigations are required however if covid crisis is going on a your place revert back.
Regards! .
