Question : my dermatologist dx me with seborrheic dermitis back in march 2019, then I went back in XXXXXXX and it had improved.
well now it seems I have the dandruff again and mainly just in the one spot.
I have read where this is a symptom of HIV, but my 2 rapid tests I took in may 2018 and august 2018 were both negative and I am not sexually active since may 2018 who was my ex husband and his 4th generation test was negative, I saw results
Now I am scared.
Can sub derm also be due to hormones ? Or anything else ? I have PCOS and extreme anxiety.

                                    Brief Answer:
Seborrhoic dermatitis seems to be due to hormonal changes
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service,
I have gone through your query.
Seborrhoic dermatitis is a very common condition which occurs mainly due to hormonal changes.
It is a presentation of HIV but in HIV patients it is widespread, severe and unresponsive to treatment.
Please don’t worry as it mostly occurs in normal individuals without HIV.
I would recommend you to continue with Ketoconazole shampoo.
It will improve your dermatitis.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
