Brief Answer:
Additional investigations are required.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
In some individuals especially among athletes or people above who had physical training early in their life will have low heart rate, it is physiological and does not cause any problem.
However heart rate of 42 is somewhat very low and has to be evaluated. You have to confirm whether the baseline heart rate is below 50 or not. A sleeping pulse rate can provide more accurate assessment.
If the pulse rate is persistently below 50, additional investigations including an ECG is required to rule out cardiac arrhythmias. A TFT(thyroid function test) is also required because hypothyroidism can cause similar symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query.
Thanks
