Question : my hand is hurting when I press on area below my index finger and top of my palm. there is nothing out of the ordinary visible. what would cause this?

Is there associated stiffness of the joint as well, it could be arthritis. Other causes can be ligament or tendon injury if there was any kind of trauma.

You can get an x-ray of the hands to confirm arthritis if there are features of joint stiffness or joint swelling.
