Brief Answer:
He needs evaluation and probably physical therapy!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and so sorry to hear about your husband.

He might be depressed which explains why he does not want to go to the doctors. Depression is quite common following a stroke because of the gross changes in life patterns. I encourage you to motivate and get him to see the doctors. He will also need to see a psychiatrist.

There are many reasons why legs can be swollen on both sides. Some include heart, liver, or kidney problems. At times, sitting for too long and poor protein intake may cause this. He would certainly need to see a doctor for evaluation.

I most cases, we limit fluid intake, raise legs when sitting, apply compressive stockings as well as treat the underlying cause.

I hope these guides and helps.
I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me as you please.
