Question : my son 20 years old suffering from fever doctor says might be viral .fever is around 101-102 f. Can i give him Meftal 500 as fever is not comming down with croin .What should be the patterni first i should give crocin and if fever does not come down in 1 hour meftal 500 ,or should i give him meftal 500 only since fever has not come below 100 f since morning.

Hi,

How long ago did he take crocin tablet? Generally fever comes down after 45 - 90 minutes. If the temperature persist to be high, he can take another half tablet of crocin. That should help in bring fever down.

From the next day, as the fever is high I would suggest combination tablets like Hifenac P (combination of aceclofenac + paracetamol) instead of two medication.

Do not be worried. Viral fever will resolve in few days. If fever persists for more than 3 days, he should report back to the doctor. In the meanwhile along with medications I recommend to drink plenty of fluids. Fruits and vegetables will also help.
