Question : my son is 18 years old and a 6'4" basketball player. He is training a lot and said he started noticing some pain as he arches his back during play sometimes.
He said it's not a bad pain and he can play without it affecting him.
The pain is along his spine at lower middle back.
He had no incident of injury, just noticed one day after hed been training for a few months.
He does not feel it during the day with normal activity. He only feels it if he does specific movements like some arching of his back.
pain is low like a 1 or a 2.

We looked at it further and it does seem to be on his spine but his doctor called us and thinks it’s just an overuse issue in a stabilizer muscle between the vertebrae since the pain is very mild as well as only present while arching.
Sounds like you both are saying the same thing.
If this is what it is, how long to rest?
How should he return to sport?

Brief Answer:
Hello can continue a mild physical activity.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again. Very well than, we are saying the same thing. Happy to hear this from you. It isn't an illnesses issue.
Is just overuse of mussels.
He can continue a mild physical activity in order not to lose his shape. Try to avoid certain movements that trigger it more.
I believe it can go in a week . He can return in a week and most probably it will not be repeated.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Best regards.
