Brief Answer:
No risk of rabies transmission, you should not be worried.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I understand your concern.
The rabies virus is spread only through a close contact.
Infected animals can spread the virus by biting a person.
It can also be transmitted when infected saliva gets into an open wound of the mouth or eyes.
So, in the case of your son there is no risk of rabies transmission.
You should not be worried.
