Question: my wife delivered 5 days ago and how her foot is swelling ? may I know why and what can be done to reduce or get rid of swelling?

Leg swelling following delivery can be due to serious issues such as deep vein thrombosis.

If not identified properly and treated this can become life threatening, so please do not neglect this issue, take your wife to the treating obstetrician right away and also consult a surgeon without fail.

If deep vein thrombosis is ruled out, then check her blood pressure and serum albumin levels.

High blood pressure can also cause leg swelling and kidney disease can cause leg swelling as well as low albumin (protein) levels can cause leg swelling.

Do also check if she has any fever or any other issue or pain and redness in the swollen area.

You can not do anything much at home, so I urge you to take her to the hospital without delay.
