Question : my wife fell from the escalator on 23 September when we were on a vacation out of country, she twisted her foot and had a fracture she did not put a cast immediately, after 10 days when we came back to XXXXXXX she got an x ray done, the report is attached of 6 th October, she was advised to where air cast shoe (penumatic )Which she stopped wearing 15 days back, now recently she got another x ray done, the doctor said she needs some basic precautions and it will be fine but might take 20 days!! but when I showed these reports to another doctor he said the bone will not join after 2 months on its own,and she might need surgery, the only problem she has is pain driving, she can't jump or run,but while walking she is fine.

Brief Answer:
Surgery is not needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have seen all the attached reports. There is a small fracture of the base of fifth metatarsal bone. Now the recent X-ray shows a mildly displaced fragment. This does not need a surgery as it does not interfere much with her daily routine. She can walk normally and avoid jumping or stressful activities like running for next 4-6 weeks. This will gradually heal on its own. She can do a hot compress in the area in case there is any swelling.
I hope this answers your query.
