Question : my wife has vaginal rash with a slight amount of blood in her urine. She just took one Benadryl tablet, but did not seem to help.
Is there an ointment she could take?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The symptoms of your wife seem to be related a yeast infection.

The bleeding is due to the inflammation of the area.

I suggest to use for 14 days an antifungal ointment such as Miconazole vaginal cream.

I also suggest to use three doses of fluconazole (Diflucan), one a day.

She can also continue Benadryl to relieve the itching.

She should maintain a good hygiene and use cotton underwear.
