Brief Answer:
Hi,

Detailed Answer:
Many a times, night sweats are normally present without any medical condition & these may subside themselves without any specific treatment within some time. However, if these do not subside themselves, then night sweats need proper treatment according to cause & particularly if these are accompanied by fever, loss of appetite or general weakness.
There may be many conditions which may give rise to night sweats. Disturbances of female hormones is the common cause for this. Certain other conditions like thyroid disorder, diabetes, tuberculosis may also cause this. Hence to find the cause by proper lab tests is needed for the specific treatment.
Above all, certain medicines like medicines used for fever or pain or anti-depressive drugs may also cause episodes of night sweating.
Last, but not the least, anxiety & stress may be an important cause of night sweats & require treatment accordingly.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
Hi,

Detailed Answer:
An ESR reading of 39 is not a matter of concern immediately. It is not specific for a single disease or a group of disease. Though, it is increased mildly in your case, but there are many person, in whom we never find a reason of mildly raised ESR. Usually, it comes to normal on its own, without any specific treatment.
At least in my opinion, mildly raised ESR ( < 60-80 ) alone is not a reason of concern, till it is supported by other signs of a disease or some other abnormal tests for a disease. This test alone is never used for any screening purpose for a disease. At least I think, that this test alone, should not be ordered in patients without any symptom of a disease.
However, if the ESR reading is above 80 or periodic reading of ESR is increasing, then you may ask your doctor for a detailed review of your condition & treatment done accordingly, if needed.
To make your worry, a bit less, I will advise you to go for a repeat ESR & if it is increasing, you may consult your doctor, otherwise, you should forget about this raised ESR.
I have tried to reply to your queries, still, if you are worried, you may discuss it with your doctor in refrence to my views, as he/she is always in a better position to analyse your condition & advise accordingly.
