Question : recently traveled to North XXXXXXX and bitten by sand flies, 70 bites. Came down with 102 fever and now have muscle weakness and numbness in limbs. Are there emerging parasites in north XXXXXXX that you are aware of

I am not aware of any parasite emerge in North recently.

Hello,

I am not aware of any parasite emerge in North recently.
It is possible, but very unlikely that you would get leishmaniasis .

Anyway, I suggest you to do the diagnostic tests to exclude Leishmaniasis.
I suggest the following examinations:
-a physical examination
-a complete blood count

Meanwhile, you can use over the counter medication like Ibuprofen for the fever.
You can also use calmine lotion or a numbing spray for local relief.
