Should I Still Be On Methimazole My Last Tsh 4.86

Question: should I still be on methimazole my last tsh 4.86 so now I have mild hypothyroidism. Will the methimazole make things worse since I went form having hperthyroidism to hypo?
Brief Answer:
Thyroidism can deviate with methimazole
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
TSH of 4.86 is normal. It is not hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.
You should also get complete thyroid profile every time.
With methimazole, the thyroid levels can deviate. If you feeling fatigued, then it is ok to discontinue methimazole for few days and re-start when symptoms of hyperthyroidism start coming back. We can re-check thyroid profile in 3-4 weeks.
Also how are your thyroid hot nodules now? You may see your endocrinologist again for this.
