Since Almost 4 Years, I Have Been Dealing With Severe

default
Posted on Mon, 20 Feb 2023
Question: Since almost 4 years, I have been dealing with severe body itching. It started in 2019 during the 3rd month of my pregnancy. Apart from my face, neck, and genitals, it impacted all parts of my body. During the time, I was hesitant to take medicines because I was pregnant, so I did take some medication for a short while, but did not pursue a full resolution.

During 2022 I was visiting a doctor who diagnosed this has hives and acute urticaria. The challenge is that whenever I take the oral medication she prescribes, the itching reduces or subsides, but as soon as the medication is over, itching is back again.

I did a complete allergy panel test (attached), and no allergies were found. In my full body check-up (report attached) Thyroid, Liver, and Kidney functions were found to be normal. I do have Vitamin D & B12 deficiency for which I am taking supplements since last 3 weeks, but it hasn't helped in reducing itching at all.

I recently found out that I am pregnant a second time (last period date 17th Dec 2022), and over the last 2 weeks my itching has escalated again to a level as never before. I am itching all day all time, and it has caused so many rashes with blood clots all over my body. It is extremely frustrating, as I am still unaware of the cause of this issue, and this time it is becoming difficult to sleep peacefully as well.

Could you please help me find the cause or treat this problem, considering I am pregnant as well?

Brief Answer:
Atopic Dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query and detailed reports.
Probably you have Atopic Dermatitis, a type of chronic allergy.
Atopic dermatitis can only be controlled.
As you are carrying now, oral medication should be avoided.
Apply desonide lotion in night and Ritch cream in morning.
You can apply Ritch cream even two to three times in a day.
This should give you immediate relief.
Take tablet Avil or Allegra if you have severe itch.
Don't take any other itch controlling medication.
Post pregnancy other medication or biological agents such as omalizumab can be used.
Use Dove soap and apply virgin coconut oil after bath.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
