Detailed Answer:
Hi,
What you reported is not uncommon. There are many patients who developed cough despite testing negative/recovery after COVID infection. At this instance, we do not have enough reasons to explain it; but it is more likely due to immunity. Furthermore, the new cells in the respiratory tract that develop to replaced damaged/infected cells are more sensitive leading to cough and uneasiness.
As long as you do not experience breathing difficulty, I think it is ok not to be worried. Continue with the treatment suggested by your doctor. Drink plenty of fluids. Eat healthy food good in calories and proteins. Plenty of fruits and vegetables are good immune boosters.
Watch out the progress of symptoms in the next few days to weeks. If you do not have any preexisting lung or medical condition, you are more likely to get well. However, if things don't improve, report back to your doctor for reevaluation.
In the meanwhile, you can continue with cough syrups if any was suggested, steam inhalation, and saltwater gargling to ease the discomfort and cough.
hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.
