Detailed Answer:
Hi there
Thanks for the query
It appears you may be having cervical spondylosis or degenerative spine.
Keep your pillow uoder the back of your shoulder blades when you lie on bed, apply warm packs to the back of the neck and sometimes warm shower will help with pain relief, take Tablet Myoril-Th 8mg twice a day for 3-4 days after meals if you are not allergic.
Perform neck extension exercises, avoid bending neck forward.
If there is no or less relief in 3 weeks, so get an xray or MRI of the cervical spine to look for nerve compression.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Since you have knots and chronic pain, TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) therapy is usually very effective. Consult your Physiotherapy centre for the same.
