Question : so I'm talking to this girl and things are getting more serious but I'm a bit worried to have anything sexual with her like kissing or sex because she told me she got meningitis pneumonia when she was a baby that cause her to be deaf in one ear. I just don't want to catch anything and don't know to much of the disease so I'm wondering is she still contagious since she had it when she was a baby. I really like her but don't want to advance into any thing until I know I'm safe

Thanks for using 'Ask A Doctor' service. Your question is a good one, since some infectious diseases, like the HIV virus, can infect for long periods of time, and be passed on to someone else.

However, meningitis pneumonia would be caused by a bacteria that only causes an infection short-term, would not still be in her body, and certainly could not be passed on to you. I wouldn't let this concern you at all.
