Question : top of mouth and tip of tongue sometimes have a weird feedling. I am still able to taste and feel but it feels as though it may be slighly numb. I have GERD and have been given a proton pump inhibitor every day. There isnt any tingling sensation just a weird feeling.

Hello Ma'am,

I can certainly understand your concern...

I have worked through your attached query in detail.

Many of your symptoms could possibly suggest oral mucosal inflammation which might cause loss of surface receptors involved in taste sensation.

This could also be a side effect of long term use of proton pump inhibitors.

These symptoms should resolve with antiseptic mouthwash with daily multivitamin supplements.
