Question : very nervous about tylenol poisoning. I have history of heavy alcohol use 3 drinks a day. I had upper right pain under rib last month, took pantoprazole 40mg for 3 weeks and pain all gone. This week I had a bad flu and took tylenol extra strenght for 2 days. I took ONE tylenol cold extra strenght(500mg) at 0645am, one at 1045am, one at 4:05pm and one tylenol 325mg at 1015pm for a total of 1825mg in 24 hours. Thursday, I took ONE tylenol cold extra strenght 500mg and one at 315pm for a total of 1000 mg in 24 hour period. Yesterday morning I had watery stool, and again this morning. I have no appetite. The flu symptoms mostly gone, feeling better. No pain. No other symptoms. I worry a lot about tylenol poisoning because of alcohol history and upper right pain last month (resolved after taking pantoprazole) and the fact that I have no appetite and had watery stools.
Brief Answer:
No need to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
You have taken 1825 mg of Tylenol on one day and 1000 mg on another day.
These are not toxic doses.
These are well within the therapeutic dose range.
So you need not worry that you will develop Tylenol poisoning.
But your alcohol intake is high. You can get a liver panel done to see whether it is within normal limits.

Dr.R.K
