they may or may not be interrelated...

Hello and Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service...
I've gone through your query in details...
I can understand your concern...

It's good that the diarrhoea's been controlled. Please drink a lot of electrolyte-rich fluids (eg. ORS solution, Gatorade, coconut water etc.) warm liquids (soups, broth, semisolid porridge etc.) to compensate with the ongoing fluid and electrolyte loss during this period.

Drink only and only sealed mineral water...

Well, this pain and tenderness around the hip and buttocks may or may not be related to this stomach bug issue. Perhaps, the previous bulged disc got exacerbated during this travel, while at the same time this diarrhoeal episodes happened.

Yes, to some extent the viral illness causes joint pain and muscle aches, but they're mostly generalized and tend to get subsided once the primary infection gets subsided.

If the pain is increasing, you can take some ACETAMINOPHEN (eg. Tylenol) 650mg round the clock (up to thrice daily after some food) and observe how you stay afterwards.

Additionally, please refrain from any strenuous activities during this period, avoid forward and backward bending, sit with an erect spine, and avoid prolonged duration of sitting. If possible to arrange, you can put on a back supporting (Lumbar support) belt also.

Let me know if I can assist you further...

Take Care
Kind Regards
