Question : I hear a drumming in my left ear every time I urinate. It doesn't hurt or anything. But it starts when I begin to urinate and stops when I stop urinating. I know, weird..

Hi,

This type of drumming is typical of eustachian tube (ET) dysfunction where this tube is blocked. An act of urination as well as defecation are known to relieve a blocked eustachian tube. This could trigger the drumming.

I wouldn't be overly concerned here as ET dysfunction is quite benign and gets self resolved over a few days. I would suggest the use of antihistamines - zyrtec tablets along with steam inhalation for the next 2-3 days. But if it persists beyond a week, I will encourage you to see a physician or an ENT surgeon for detailed evaluation.
