Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Based on your description of marks appearing on your face over the past year, there are several possibilities for the cause. Here are a few common skin conditions that could be responsible:

1. Acne: Acne is a common skin condition that can cause various types of blemishes, such as pimples, blackheads, or whiteheads. It can develop due to factors like hormonal changes, excessive oil production, or bacterial infection.

2. Rosacea: Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that primarily affects the face. It typically involves redness, flushing, and the appearance of small, swollen blood vessels. The exact cause of rosacea is unknown, but it may be influenced by genetics, environmental factors, or abnormalities in the blood vessels of the face.

3. Melasma: Melasma is a common skin condition characterized by brown or grayish-brown patches on the face, typically on the cheeks, forehead, nose, or upper lip. Hormonal changes, sun exposure, and genetics can contribute to its development.

4. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH): PIH can occur as a result of various skin injuries or inflammatory conditions, such as acne, eczema, or psoriasis. It causes darker patches or spots to develop in the affected areas after the initial inflammation or injury has healed.

Please remember that these are just potential causes, and a doctor who can examine your skin would be able to provide a more accurate diagnosis. They can recommend appropriate treatment options based on your specific condition, which may include topical medications, oral medications, lifestyle modifications, or dermatological procedures such as chemical peels or laser therapy.

In the meantime, you can try to maintain a regular skincare routine that includes gentle cleansing, moisturizing, and sun protection to support the health of your skin.
