Brief Answer:
Can be a muscle spasm.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The persistent pain in the lower back is likely to be due to a muscle spasm. This can be related to a mild disc problem too. You need to consult an orthopedician for proper investigations like MRI scan of the lower back for proper diagnosis. Till then take rest and avoid forward bending. You can alos take a mild pain killer or get an oral muscle relaxant prescribed from your physician for relief.
I hope this answers your query.
