28 Weeks Pregnant. Having Constipation, Cramps. Had Diarrhoea After Taking Laxatives. Is It Normal?
Hi, my name is Carey. I have been constipated for about a week now. Throughout the week I have been having bad cramping, that felt like I needed to use the bathroom, but when I tried to go nothing happened. I finally took 2 laxative pills and that gave me diarreah. Is that normal? I also must add that I am 28 weeks pregnant, don't know of that matters?
Constipation is very common in pregnancy fue to underlying hormones asvwell as position of baby sometimes....taking laxatives occasionally to relieve constipation is fine....and it might result in diarrhoea at times.....but try taking diet that helps bowel movement like fibres fruits and milk...and ofcourse light walking daily is good also
Hello Thanks for the query to H.C.M.Forum. Since ,you are 28 weeks pregnant , don't take laxative as these develops diarrhea ( as happened in your case ) and many essential minerals losses . Take high fiber diet with salad . Plenty of water with other fluid will also help. Whenever you feel constipation don't make any strain , rather get in glycerinenema. You can do yourself ,just insert nozzle of tube into anus squeeze it and wait for 10-15 minute and evacuation. No side effect , no medicine and the best for pregnant lady. Good luck. Dr. HET
