Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic
Delayed or
irregular periods can be due to a number of conditions such as : pregnancy, emotional or physical stress such as illness, abnormal levels of thyroid hormone, abnormal levels of prolactin hormone, extreme physical activity and PCOS.
PCOS stands for
polycystic ovarian syndrome, this condition is a common cause of irregular periods. It is diagnosed if there are at least 2 of the following : (1) delayed or irregular periods (2)
polycystic ovaries seen on ultrasound (3) signs or symptoms of increased levels of male hormones. These would include hair growth in the face/chest/abdomen, acne.
You should consider visiting your doctor for an assessment. He or she can do a
blood test to check for HCG which would determine if you are pregnant.
If this negative then other investigations such as blood levels of thyroid hormome , prolactin,
testosterone would be done. Imaging would also be suggested.
I hope this helps
