5 Yrs Old Has Frequent Colds, Blocked Nose, Wheezy Coughs, Bronchitis. Can Fenstisil Be Used In Colds ?
Dear Dr Stephen, My son (5 yrs) old has been having frequent colds, blocked nose and chesty coughs with wheeze and few bronchitis . Previously his treatment included nebulizer , Ventolin syrup, anti-allergy syrup, cough syrup, nasal spray and antibiotic when needed. This time the doctor prescribed nasal spray, Fenistil drops and Gelobronchial for 7 days. Is Fenistil commonly used in colds? It makes my son very tired and his behaviour is nor good either.. Many thanks and regards,
I understand your son has allergic rhino-bronchitis. Nasal sprays is the mainstay in the treatment of allergic rhinitis. Since fenistil is a antihistamine it can be used in the treatment of allergic rhinitis. These antihistaminic drugs are known to cause some sedation. Thats why your son is tired. Try reducing the dosage of Fenistil to the half of what has been adviced. It may help. if it doesn't help consult your doctor for changing the medications
