70 Years Old. Have Lone A-Fib And CHAD Is 0. Should I Go For Atrial Fibrillation?
Why are my cardiologists leaving me in Atrial Fibrillation? I am asymptomatic and have Lone A-Fib and my CHAD score is zero. I am 70 years old and exercise every day. I was taken off Warfarin four days ago and told to switch to one 81 mg baby aspirin a day and to continue taking 25 mg of Metoprolol twice a day. Cordially, Oslooskar
Hi
The primary goal in a given situation is the RHYTHM CONTROL.
If it is felt to be impossible, difficult or dangerous / or if it is felt the sinus rhythm cannot be sustained the next aim is RATE CONTROL - the treatment should not be worse than the malady...
The aim is not to treat only the arrhythmia - but the patient as a whole
At any rate, prevention of clot formation and embolism is important - since the score is zero, aspirin is chosen (Warfarin has more side effects and need monitoring) .
You are in best hands - continue
Good luck
