8 Weeks Pregnant, Coughing, Sleeplessness. Lung Infection?

Good evening. I am 8 weeks pregnant and coughing 2 weeks already. First I started with dry cough, I told my gynecologist and she prescribed robitussin dm, I took it for 3 days, my cough became wet and coughing clear mucus . My concern that I am pregnant and worried, the cough doesn t let me sleep and I am not sure what else I should do. What if I have infection or bacteria in my lungs? Should I go to my family physical? Could it be something serious? How long does wet cough lasts? Does it hurt the fetus?

Any cough lasting for more than 2 weeks should be investigated thoroughly. It could be allergic cough, it could be asthma menifesting as cough or it could be any chronic infection. You must visit your family physician or a pulmonologist and get investigated otherwise it cause problems during pregnancy or affect the foetus.
