Hi
Thanks for your query.
The medications generally do not cause severe constipation.
Please have atleast 4 - 5 litres of fluids per day.
Also, increase intake of husk, fibre, fruits, vegetables.
If nothing helps, you can ask your OB GYN to prescribe a laxative, however this is a short term measure.
Take care.

General & Family Physician Dr. Vasudha's  Response
Hi,
The medicines you are taking are not likely to produce constipation.
Fopymin is a drug to prevent neural tube defects in fetus .Dubogen is a hormonal drug protecting baby in 1st three months. Both of them are essential.
The constipation is a pregnancy symptom -due to bodily changes in pregnancy( slowing of intestinal movements, the digested food left in intestines for alonger time. so water is absorbed, stools become dry .
Management of constipation needs lifestyle changes,& mild laxatives suggested by your Doctor.
* take food with high fibers- veges,salads,fruits ( with skins), cereals& legumes, pulses with skin,in natural form.
* drink lot of water. abour 10 to 12 glasses in a day.
* light exercises daily,
*A glass of hot milk with a tea spoon of clarified butter at bed time helps.
* figs/dates are natural stool softners.
Thank you.
