Acne Prone Skin. Reddish And Dry Skin After Using Microbenz Gel. Suggested Vzee 500. Safe? Suggestions For Stopping Acne?

I've a fair skin, not oily nor dry, but still acne prone. I've already been consulting a dermatologist since Jan 3 2013. For the first 15days I was on Disdox100 tablet(morning and afternoon after food) and zivinix(multivitamin after lunch), Dermadew soap, clindamycin gel 3times a day. The next visit was on 23rd Jan 2013, where again doctor prescribed me with disdox and zivinix for 30days along with dermadew soap, clindamycin gel(morning/afternoon), Deriva-cms gel(night). Acne started reducing eventually. Third visit was on Feb 27 2013, the tablets were stopped, he asked me to use deriva-cms gel and microbenz3.5 gel(alternate days), aloederm cream(daytime), but I hardly used microbenz3.5 because the next day my skin would become reddish and dry. Then he asked me to see him after 2months, And had also asked me to take vzee500 if in case pimples arise again. Since am running with Exams, I'm not able to go consult him for now. The signs of acne is again showing up on my face lately. Is vzee tablet safe? Or what should I be doing to stop my acne. Please help.

Hi thanks for writing here.Vzee is azithromycin tablet .It is commonly used in acne.It is safe ,but just take it one hour before meals otherwise it can lead to diarrhea.Instead of taking 500 single dose you can take it in divided dose ,half tablet twice daily.You can take it for 3 to 5 days.Microbenz and deriva both are exfoliating agents and since you are using both simultaneously ,it has irritated your skin.Just continue with aloderm which will reduce exfoliation.To reduce redness from microbenz you can wash it after 1 hour for few weeks and gradually increase your contact time.Sun protection is must.Once your exams are over you can consult your doctor .Take care.
