Acute Migraine On One Side, Nausea With Dried Lips, Took Inderal, Triptaz, With Slight Relief. Permanent Solution ?

I have been having severe or what others may call acute migrain on one side of my eyes as soon as comes ptosis accompanies it and I feel like to throw up with dried lips. I have consulted a neurologist got almost all the test required done and I got a priscription of inderal, triptaz, grenil and zolmist nasal spray, even after taking all these drugs as directed by the physician the headache is resisting and sometimes it goes to another side of the eye causing me a lot of pain and discomfort that I can only think of a dark quiet place to lay down.
The headache usually subside after 2-3 hours daily, mostly every morning from 8:30 am and I have been having this headache since 2003 till presently, it happens once or twice in a year but when comes it can last up to 30 days non stop migraine.
Please can give me a solution to this, I have ask the neurologist that I usually visit. Can't migraine be cured completely? Her answer was NO! That it comes and go and also it can be heredity but I can't recall anyone in my family that has migraine.
I have also contacted homeopathy doctors but to no avail, the only medication that calms it down is zolmist nasal spray but I can't be using it all the time because am pretty sure it definitely has a side effect which is why am scared of prolonged usage.
I have come to a conclution that I can do anything to get rid of the migraine and continue to live my life as a normal human being and not always in pain and agony, it is the worst thing that has ever happened to me.
I have wasted a lot of money but still can't get any better, please kindly give me a solution to this as I have already stopped all foods and drinks that can trigger as well artificial sweetner that contains aspartame.

Hi,
Your doctor has given you the right treatment, the pain killers do help you and yes there is no known cure for migraine. But there were other things she could have told you for example-
get enough sleep, but dont overdo it
rest in a dark, quiet room when you feel a headache coming on
Keep a headache diary

Thew diary is without a doubt the most useful and best option you have, in list everything like the date when a migraine started and how long did it last, also list down possible triggers and avoid them as much as you can, triggers vary widely and can be smells, food, bright lights, sounds, missing sleep etc etc. You have to make an effort to find your triggers on your own, once that is done, avoiding them is the best form of treatment.

Alternative therapy that has helped some patients include acupuncture and massages.

I hope this answered your question, do feel free to ask me if you have any further questions.
