Advice On Breast Cancer And Its Recurrence

My query is regarding breast cancer, just diagnosed with infiltrating ductal carcinoma NOS grade 2 (17mm and 18mm in length), Oestrogen and progesterone positive, HER2 negative - (also have a Fibroadenoma next to this lump, 13 and 17mm in length).
Informed of two treatment options: 1) Tamoxifen, lumpectomy and radiotherapy
2) Mastectomy
I have been reviewing information on both treatments and the risk for reoccurrence following each treatment......still unable to decide. Can you offer any advice please?

You have a T1 breast cancer. You didn't mention about any other metastasis.
In early stage breast cancer both treatment options are equal in terms of outcome. If you are more concerned about preserving your breast you can go ahead with option 1 ( Lumpectomy + Radiotherapy + Systemic therapy).
Usually radiotherapy is provided in specialized centres. Radiotherpay will be given for approximately 5-6 weeks. If Radiotherapy facility is far away from your place (or) if you want to avoid radiotherapy you can go ahead with mastectomy.
Note : Decision on radiotherapy is taken after histopathological examination of the surgical specimen. Even if you undergo mastectomy, if the axillay nodes are positive for metastasis radiotherapy is a must.
