After Masturbating I Had A Horrible Stabbing Pain That Lasted

After masturbating I had a horrible stabbing pain that lasted for close to 10 minutes. I actually inserted something into the vagina. After that the pain started to lessen. This happened on January 19th. Days later I have on and off pain located in the pelvic or groin area. I'm not sure if I tore something in the vagina. The pain that I have isn't as excruciating as it was on the 19th. Is this a serious problem or will it pass on its own?
