After My 4 Year Old Suffering From Flu, What Should I Do If My Infant Also Has Flu?

My almost 4 yo son has had a fever off and on for 6 days today. Very runny nose, chills, hacking cough, etc. He also says the back of his legs hurt. He has asthma and has been hospitalized the last two winters b/c of his sat levels and pneumonia. When I put my ear to his back, he is moving air and I don't hear wheezing. He improved for two days in the middle of all this, with only a slight fever at night, but now it's constant. Also, my three month old was diagnosed A positive for the flu.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I have gone through the medical history of your children and feel sorry for the situation they are in.

If your three month old was also diagnosed A positive for the flu, I suggest to keep consulting his pediatrician to prevent pneumonia onset.

If the fever will get higher and symptoms will worsen, then, should seek medical help as soon as possible.

I advise to :
- give them plenty of fluids (tea, juices, water with ORS)
- give medications as directed by the pediatrician
- keep their nasal airways open by using nasal drops
- make them have aerosol-therapy (with saline and/or beclometasone as directed)

Wish fast recovery!
