After Recovering From TB, What Could Recurring Evening Fevers And Cough Indicate?
Hi, I had taken treatment for TB thrice i.e. in 1997 (6 months), 2000(8 months) and 2004 (6 months). In 2009, I once again became sick with the symptoms of fever and dry cough. At last, I went for Ayurvedic treatment and taken medicines for 1 year and became fully cured. Now, I am again suffering with fever since July and dry cough for last 15 days. I have again started Ayurvedic treatment. But fever comes everyday in the evening with dry cough. ESR is 65. What are the chances. Am I again infected with the TB?
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your situation and problem. Yes, possibility of recurrence of tuberculosis is more in your case. You are having past history of tuberculosis thrice, having high ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) and fever with cough, all are suggestive of recurrence of tuberculosis. So you should consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and chest x ray. If chest x ray is suggestive of tuberculosis than you need sputum or BAL (bronchoalveolar lavage) culture and sensitivity to rule out MDR (multi drug resistant) tuberculosis as rusk of MDR tb is high in recurrence cases. So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
