I took steriods 1mg betnasol forte for 6 long years to avoid alopecial areata on eyebrows head and beard. Now the same have been stopped for last 3 months as I my cortisol levels have decreased to 1mg/ul. The same problem has recurred again and my doctor dermatologist has advised flutivate E cream twice daily but it has not worked. Even he has injected corticosteroid in to my eyebrows but the havent seem to have worked really. Results are awaited. Kindly advise. Email Address : YYYY@YYYY Alternate E mail : YYYY@YYYY
Alopecia Areata is a tricky disease to be dealing with . There are basically 2 types: localised & Generalised. You seem to have yours under control.
Stress plays a major role as am sure you are aware. Just treating with an injectable steroid sans addressing the other issues surrounding it will not go a long way in the management & you seem to have been ailing from it for the past 6 years!
I wonder if UVB 311 ever been tried in your case or has topical (local) application of an immunomodulator called 1% Pimecrolimus or 0.03% tacrolimus? If not, this is the way forward in addition while awaiting the result of the intralesional injections!!
Good Luck & wish you Great hair days!
Cheers & Good Luck!!
