Am I Right To Get A Second Opinion From The Endocronologist ?

I am requesting my mom's family doctor to refer her to an endocronologist. She is diabetic, has high blood and tyroid problem. As of now she is taking too many medications which makes her sleepy all the time. Am I right to get a second opinion from the endocronologist ?
