Hi, I am 24, I have PCOD, border line cholestrol, leading to hyperprolactamenia , now my Prolactin level is control. My doctor prescribed be Glycomet 250 mg (daily) +Aldactone 100 mg(daily) + Cabgolin 0.25mg(once in 10 days) + Deviry 10 mg (once in 7 days), I am 5 6 and gained weight due to medication in past months. Also after reading about Deviry, I am not sure that is it ok to take once in a week....please suggest and explain what process my doc is following?

Hi There

I have gone through the medical details provided by you, i understand your concern and will try to explain you in a easy way.

Starting with your meds GLYCOMET in PCOD patients these meds help to increase insulin sensitivity therby helping in proper energy metabolis.

ALDACTONE helps in controlling the level of androgens in the body thereby preventing excessive hair growth and ACNE in pcod patients.

CABGOLIN helps in controling the level of PROLACTIN hormone.

DEVIRY is Medroxyprogesterone which is usually advised Twice daily for 5 days to help with MENSTRUAL irregularity in PCOD patients. Once is 7 days is not the regime. I would like to suggest you to talk with your treating doctor regarding this.

Finally your WEIGHT GAIN is not due to medicines as GLYCOMET helps in weight reduction. The majority of women with PCOD are insulin resistant. High levels of insulin can increase fat storage as well as increase hunger and carbs cravings (both of which can increase caloric intake).

Hope I have explained your queries.
