Am I Unprotected From Getting Pregnant Now?

I ve started taking the pill this weekend, on the first day of my period, which was Saturday. However I took the very first pill on the blister (of 21 days) which was marked as Sunday despite it being Saturday. I thought the days didn t really matter but now i m confused, is it relevant ? Am I unprotected from getting pregnant now ? I m really concerned because once I m off my period I plan on having unprotected sex with my boyfriend but I m scared that I took the wrong pill and I m not protected anymore.

Hello,

It takes a week for the oral contraception pills to offer protection against pregnancy so you are not protected the first week and you will need to use another method of contraception (such as condoms) during this time.
As for starting it on Saturday instead of Sunday, this is not a problem as long as this does not confuse you while you take the pills. You will have to use the pills in order as they are in the pack otherwise the efficacy of the pill diminishes greatly.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
