Am A Heart Patient, Done TMT. Seeking Expert Advice
I am aged 63 years.I am a heart patient.Pci to LAD was done on 17-8-2010.TMT done on29-10-2011.Interpretation:Stressed upto 32 seconds of stage 4 of bruce(9.32) HR 155(98%PMHR) with workload of 11 mets.NORMAL hr& BP response,noarrhythmias.0.5-1 mm horizontal st depression in interior leads &V6 at peak which partially reverted at 1st min &became st sagging at 4th min,persisted upto 6th min of recovery.Posttest probability for inducible mocardial ichamia is moderate. Now i am taking folloing medicines:1)PAN 40 2)Asomex 2.5mg (morning). 3)Astn 20 (night).4)Deplatt (75)(night).5)Telsar 40(night). I am not a diabetic.Doing moderate exercise ,walking ,besides simple yoga exercises. Can i seek yr expert advice on my health condition. Masilamani

Dear Mr Masilamani,
You have already done your angioplasty last year, yet there is shortage of blood supply to your heart at high levels of exercise. You must adopt cardiac rehabilitation program which is nowadays offered by my many hospitals post angioplasty. As you can improve your heart condition by proper diet,exercise,yoga and stress management. Your medicines are for for blood pressure,cholesterol and blood thinning.
Low dose of nitrates will protect your heart from ischemia at higher levels of exercise if you take it before walk. Since this is an internet forum, without examining patients and relevant investigations we cannot prescribe you. You can visit your cardiologist for the same.
However let me assure you that at your age 9:32 mins on Bruce test is good performance, so please dont loose confidence. You keep on walking at speed of 4-5km per hour for half daily. Also do warm up for 5 min,brisk phase 20min,5 min cool down. Eat low fat,high fibre vegeterian diet, and keep your mind cool and calm. Be happy and stay focused. One best part is you are not a diabetic. So take care of yourself, continue doing exercise and yoga you will definitely do better in your next stress test.
