Anorexia nervosa is an
eating disorder characterized by the following core features:
- Refusal to maintain a body weight that is at or above the minimum normal weight for your age and height
- Intense fear of gaining weight or becoming fat, even though you're underweight
- Denying the seriousness of having a low body weight, or having a distorted image of your appearance or shape
- In women who've started having periods, the absence of a period for at least three consecutive menstrual cycles
In your case, your weight of 44kg is definitely below the minimum normal; your BMI works out to just 17. But you don't seem to have any of the other core features, which makes the diagnosis of an anorexia nervosa unlikely. However, you definitely need a detailed evaluation to find out why your weight is so low and necessary steps have to be taken to normalize the same.
