Am I Getting Pimples Because Of Using Melacare?
Hi Dr. PVS Prasad,
sir, I'm using melacare cream since last 1.5 yrs. Perhaps, i got better reult like, all my black patches are disapeared, skin become fairer liek b4. but now i started getting pimples one after other. Request you to pls advice is this because of using melacare, is there any side effect,

Melacare cream is the most likely reason for the acne. Melacare cream contains a potent steroid e,g mometasone along with hydroquinone and tretinoin.
Indiscriminate use and over use, for more than 2-3 months, of this combination is associated with serious side effects like like acne, skin thinning, telangiectasis, sun sensitivity/photosensitivity, facial hair growth/hirsutism (specially troublesome in females) etc.
I would suggest that you discontinue using melacare, if you have'nt already.
For acne you could use a topical benzoyl peroxide gel 2.5% twice daily. Oral antibiotics may also be required e.g doxycycline 100mg twice daily OR Azithromycin 500mg three consequtive days/week for 4-6 weeks.
