Hello...i am 12 weeks pregnant and i had subchorionic collection along the inferior aspect of a placenta measuring 9.5*2.7mm.and placenta is anterior(low lying),lower end just reaching upto the internal os and shows grade 1 maturity.what does low lying placenta mean?is it serious problem?doc has suggested me susten vt 200 daily in the night and i am taking the same from starting of my pregnancy.now i m taking it on alternate day but doc has suggested it daily...is it fine?
Hi,
Low-lying placenta is a placenta that lies either touching the internal os or covering it in various lengths or just dipping into the lower segment. All these terms should be applied when a pregnancy has entered the third trimester as prior to this, the position of the placenta is insignificant. A low-lying placenta later in pregnancy needs special attention and monitoring and an abdominal delivery. As you have had a sub-chorionic bleed, please take the medication as suggested by your doctor. You should also abstain from intercourse, stress, journeys, lifting heavy things and take bed rest till the hemorrhage dissolves. Take care.
