Anemia is caused by a number of causes. A low hemoglobin gives us the information that hemoglobin is low but the cause has to be found. The first thing to do is to get a peripheral blood film examination and red blood indices. This investigation will let the doctor to know about the status of red blood cells and the indices. Further investigations will be guided by the result of these investigations. Management of anemia will depend on the result of these investigations. Anemia can be due to loss of blood, nutritional deficiency, hemoglobin disorders, etc. After knowing the cause treatment can be planned.
