Any Advise For Conceiving With PCOD Other Than Taking Metformin And Ovacet?
I want to conceive for the first time, im 31 years old have PCOD, both my fallopian tubes are normal and healthy and my husband's 34 years old with a good sperm count. My gynaec first gave me a metformin dose for 1 month but after I failed to conceive she switched me to ovacet. I want to know is the line of treatment alright and what are my chances of conceiving this time?
Hi and thank you so much for trusting us with your heath query.
I am so sorry to hear about this PCOD and this difficulty conceiving. Pregnancy doesn't always happen according to our plans. Pregnancy is a game of chance and couples without any problem are always allowed at least 12months of continuous trial before being investigated and treated for infertility. Having PCOD makes this even further challenging and patience should be exercised. I will like that you and your husband exercise this same patience and not expect results overnight otherwise it would lead to frustration and unhealthy feelings.
Metformin has been shown to help increase the chances of becoming pregnant in women with PCOD. However, a month's treatment is almost no treatment. I cannot understand why it was tried only for a month and abandoned to seek for new alternatives. Please, ask your doctor about this.
I hope you find this helpful. I wish you well and hope you get pregnant soon. However, be patient about it. . Thank you so much for using our services and please do feel free to ask for clarifications or more information if need be. Dr. Ditah, MD.
