Any Ideas About Clear, Oily Liquid Discharge From Breast And Soreness?

Dear Dr., I have a 24-month-old son and still been breastfed (his preference is only on my right breast). About 6 months ago I’ve stopped expressing (pumping) breast milk and now I notice that when I squeeze my left breast, a few drops of clear and oily fluid will appear. I also experience a slight soreness on my left breast (just beside the armpit). Any ideas? Thanks.

Hello,

Oily fluid from left breast is normal, it usually occur before milk expression.
Soreness of breast is due to collection of milk.
You need to express milk, have hot fermentation, and massage.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Richa Agarwal, OBGYN
