Any Simple Cure For Itching In Throat That Makes To Feel Like Gagging?

Hi, occasionally I get an itch in my throat that makes me feel like gagging. I avoid gagging by deep breathing, coughing, and drinking water. This happens about once every few weeks, but sometimes it happens twice that day. The episode only lasts about a minute, but is extremely uncomfortable and causing a lot of anxiety. The alternative is actually gagging, which I really don't like. I am actually considering making myself gag often to get used to the sensation. Do you know of any obvious causes and any simple cures?

Hi, Thanks for using HCm.

Irritation in throat could be due to post nasal discharge from nose or acid reflux from stomach. Get examined by ENT doctor any obvious findings in throat , post nasal discharge or any tonsil lesions.
Any irritation of posterior surface of throat result in gagging.
Regular clearing of throat, warm salt water gargling helps to throat clean.
